The On-Campus Clinical Nurse Leader (M.S.) program is specifically designed for students who have completed a bachelor's degree or higher in a field other than nursing for master's-level entry into professional nursing practice. For more information, please visit the program website.

PROGRAM ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Prerequisite Courses required:

Seven prerequisite courses must be successfully completed prior to matriculation. You may still apply with some prerequisites in progress provided all seven will be complete prior to your intended matriculation entry date. Prerequisite courses may be completed at any U.S. Department of Education accredited university, college or community college. Please note that a laboratory is required for Human Anatomy and Physiology I, Human Anatomy and Physiology II, and Microbiology. Both the lecture and lab must be completed with a B or better. It is encouraged that all prerequisite courses be completed within 5 years from your intended matriculation date. 

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I with lab, B or better, 4 credits
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology II with lab, B or better, 4 credits
  • Chemistry, B or better, 3 credits
  • Microbiology with lab, B or better, 4 credits
  • Statistics, C or better, 3 credits
  • Human Nutrition, C or better, 3 credits
  • Human Growth and Development / Lifespan Developmental Psychology, C or better, 3 credits

​Please note: Highly competitive applicants will have taken Pathophysiology and Pharmacology within the last five years; however, these are not required for entry.

For online courses, you will be expected to submit a syllabus that confirms the following criteria are met. The syllabus must be current (i.e. for the online version of the course in the term in which it will be taken, and prepared by the instructor of record).

  • The structure of the online course should approximate 36 contact hours by alternate means.
  • The course must meet for a minimum of three weeks, with fixed start and end dates.
  • Self-paced courses or independent studies will not be approved. The syllabus should provide evidence of class interaction, regular instructor feedback, and intermediate deadlines throughout the term.
  • The institution should provide evidence of identity verification (such as a proctored exam) if not mentioned on syllabus.

  • Official Transcripts - required from all institutions from which the applicant has or will earn a degree (undergraduate, graduate, and/or associates) by the time of matriculation at Georgetown; unofficial non-degree coursework transcripts should be uploaded directly to the online application. All transcripts from institutions outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an official World Education Services evaluation.)

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY:  TOEFL / IELTS

All applicants are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the admission requirement of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Proficiency can be demonstrated by the receipt of a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university where English is the primary language of instruction (please note that applicants receiving degrees at universities in U.S. territories, such as Puerto Rico, are required to submit the TOEFL or IELTS unless the primary language of instruction at the institution is English). All other applicants must achieve at least a minimum score on either the TOEFL or IELTS test. Test scores must be received by the application deadline date. Applicants should allow six to eight weeks from the test date for the reporting of scores to the institution. Applications will not be considered without GRE or TOEFL/IELTS scores.
