DOCTOR OF NURSE ANESTHESIA PRACTICE (D.N.A.P.)

The highly regarded Nurse Anesthesia Program leads to the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (D.N.A.P.) degree. This full-time, on-campus 64-credit B.S.N.-D.N.A.P. program lasts three years. The first 12 months include 37 credits of didactic coursework. The remaining 27 credits of the program - spread over 24 months - are a blend of coursework, clinical experience, and research. Clinical placements are designated by the faculty at clinical sites throughout the greater Washington metropolitan area.

PROGRAM ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Application Materials required:

  • Application Form
  • Non-refundable Application Fee
  • Personal Essay – a brief summary (no more than 500 words) about short-term and long-term goals after completion of the DNAP program
  • Professional resume or curriculum vitae indicating higher education institutions attended and dates of attendance, work experience and clinical experience (with dates), and other activities
  • Official Transcripts - required from all institutions from which the applicant has or will earn a degree (undergraduate, graduate, and/or associates) by the time of matriculation at Georgetown; unofficial non-degree coursework transcripts should be uploaded directly to the online application. All transcripts from institutions outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an official World Education Services evaluation.)
  • Official Recommendations (3)- direct supervisor (required), academic educator/professor, individual who can speak to your future success as a nurse anesthetist
  • GRE Scores (required if GPA is lower than 3.5; see below)
  • TOEFL/IELTS  (please see below)

GRE - GRADUATE RECORD EXAM

Results of the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are required for applicants with a GPA below 3.5. There is no minimum required score on the GRE. Test scores must be received by the application deadline date. Applicants should allow six to eight weeks from the test date for the reporting of scores to the institution. Applications will not be considered without GRE scores.  Information on registering to take the GRE can be found at:   http://www.gre.org/ttindex.html

An official copy of your GRE scores must be sent to Georgetown from ETS (reporting code: 5244). In addition, you can send an unofficial photocopy of your scores to help have your application reviewed more expeditiously.  We must also receive the official ETS report.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY:  TOEFL / IELTS

All applicants are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the admission requirement of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Proficiency can be demonstrated by the receipt of a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university where English is the primary language of instruction (please note that applicants receiving degrees at universities in U.S. territories, such as Puerto Rico, are required to submit the TOEFL or IELTS unless the primary language of instruction at the institution is English). All other applicants must achieve at least a minimum score on either the TOEFL or IELTS test. Test scores must be received by the application deadline date. Applicants should allow six to eight weeks from the test date for the reporting of scores to the institution. Applications will not be considered without GRE or TOEFL/IELTS scores.
