10 Graduate Students Named Bryce Harlow Foundation Fellows
Ten Georgetown graduate students have been named fellows of the Bryce Harlow Foundation, which recognizes outstanding graduate students committed to careers in government advocacy.
The fellowship program develops leaders who are pursuing careers in government relations and lobbying. Fellows are full-time working professionals involved in part-time graduate study in areas including public policy, business and law.

They receive a $9,000 tuition award and are paired with Bryce Harlow Foundation board members through a mentoring program that emphasizes professional development.
Of the 10 universities represented by this year’s 26 fellows, Georgetown contributed the most students, followed by George Washington University with five. Since the program started in 1985, 112 Georgetown graduate students have served as Bryce Harlow Foundation Fellows, some for multiple terms.
“Being named a Bryce Harlow Foundation Fellow is both an honor and a responsibility,” said Ethan Miller (G’26), who is pursuing his master’s in applied economics. “It affirms my work in government affairs advocacy as having been done with integrity and a commitment to the public good, and it’s also a call to continue upholding those values in everything I do.”
The Georgetown fellows come from five schools across the university, spanning programs in public policy, business, foreign service, economics and law.

MBA candidate Julia Grady (MBA’27) is a returning fellow to the program. For Grady, the fellowship offers opportunities to put into practice what she’s learning in her business classes at Georgetown and gain additional mentors in the advocacy field.

Grady, a senior legislative affairs associate for the nonprofit America’s Essential Hospitals, is building her career around championing policies that expand access to quality health care for underserved communities, including low-income and uninsured populations. Grady said her Georgetown MBA program has illuminated the broader economic and geopolitical context in which public policy takes shape.
“Through coursework in a broad range of MBA courses, I’ve strengthened my ability to assess the economic implications of policy decisions and analyze how global factors shape domestic legislative outcomes,” she said.
Miller, a new fellow who works as a strategy associate at the consulting firm Penta Group, aspires to grow his experience in government affairs by working for a financial technology company or nonprofit. Eventually, he hopes to run for national office.
Studying applied economics at Georgetown has helped him sharpen his analytical skills — a benefit in interactions with clients — and given him a “quantitative, logical and macro perspective” that is essential for working in government affairs, he said.
“When you can approach complex issues with a unique, informed perspective, that is how you bring real value to the table,” he said.
