Hernán Carvallo Cruz

Meet Hernán Carvallo Cruz – He is from Santiago, Chile, and will be starting the Master of Arts in learning, design, and technology program this fall – a joint program between the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship.

Why did you choose Georgetown?

I chose Georgetown because it’s a university with a rich history and a genuine desire to change the world. The commitment to ethical education really resonates with my personal and professional goals. Being in Washington, DC, offers a global perspective that is both impressive and inspiring, and I’m excited to be part of a community that aims to make a difference on such a significant scale.

What advice would you give to others going through the graduate school application process?

Be persistent. Carefully review everything that is requested and read all the information related to your program thoroughly. Don’t get discouraged when you encounter obstacles – they are tests that are part of the process. Remember, the application journey is just the beginning of your growth.

What are you looking forward to the most during your time at Georgetown?

We are at a crucial moment in history where technology is transforming education, and I’m excited to be part of this change. I look forward to collaborating with peers and faculty who are at the forefront of innovation in learning design and technology.

What do you enjoy doing during your free time?
