Global Infectious Disease

About the Program

The Ph.D. in Global Infectious Disease provides students a unique combination of training that brings together science, health, technology, modeling, social sciences, economics, and governance. While specializing in particular areas, students also will learn about the multitude of ways to approach different aspects of infection prevention and control, including life science research, mathematical modeling of outbreaks, economic impacts of pandemics, and diplomacy to advance health outcomes.

The M.S. in Global Infectious Disease teaches students the reality that combating infectious diseases, one of the top problems facing populations around the world, requires a range of tools, including: effective therapeutics, advanced computational modeling for surveilling disease transmission, and public policies focused on improving health. Students are dedicated to finding solutions to improve country-level and global approaches to infectious disease threats.

This program is eligible to complete as a dual degree: M.D./M.S.
