Announcing the 2021 Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Awards
This morning, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences hosted a virtual Doctoral Hooding Ceremony. During this event, we shared messages from the dean and distinguished faculty, recognized the achievements of our Ph.D. and doctorate graduates, and celebrated our 2021 Harold N. Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Award winners.
We are pleased to formally announce Dr. Simon Belokowsky, Dr. Lorenzo Bozzelli, and Dr. Laura Goffman as this year’s recipients of the Glassman Award. Congratulations to all three on their accomplishments!
2021 Harold N. Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Award in the Humanities
Dr. Simon Belokowsky is the recipient of the 2021 Harold N. Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Award in the Humanities for his dissertation, “Youth is to Live in the City! Rural Out-Migration in the Black Earth Region under Khrushchev and Brezhnev” which he defended, with Distinction, in April 2020. (Citation)
2021 Harold N. Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Award in the Sciences
Dr. P. Lorenzo Bozzelli is the recipient of the 2021 Harold N. Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Award in the Sciences for his dissertation, “HIV-induced matrix metalloproteinases alter glial and neuronal function” which he defended in June 2019. (Citation)
2021 Harold N. Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Award in the Social Sciences
Dr. Laura Goffman is the recipient of the 2021 Harold N. Glassman Distinguished Dissertation Award in the Social Sciences for her dissertation, “Medical Frontiers: Health, Empire, and Society in the Gulf and Arabian Peninsula, 1862-1959,” which she defended, with Distinction, in April 2019.
