About the Program
Biotechnology is a dominant sector of the global economy. Advances fueled by the biotechnology industry have revolutionized health care, agriculture and environmental remediation in the 21st century. Over the past several decades there have been major expansions in the field of biotechnology, which has affected many aspects of our lives and society.
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers a program of study leading to the M.S. in Biotechnology, whose curriculum reflects the multidisciplinary nature of biotechnology, integrating theoretical and lab-based science courses with dedicated courses in BioBusiness, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, regulatory affairs, etc. The one-year (30-credit) program may be completed over a longer time frame for students who are already employed or wish to complete the program on a part-time basis. The M.S. offers five different tracks.
