The Department of Health Systems Administration offers two options for students pursuing a master’s degree in health systems administration: the online Executive MHSA track for working professionals in the health care field and the full-time, on-campus MHSA track for early careerists. Our graduate program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).
The two-year executive master’s in health system adminstration (EMHSA) track includes a combination of three week-long on-campus intensives, one offsite intensive, and five 12-week online sessions. This approach offers students the flexibility of an online format without sacrificing academic rigor; exceptional teaching; personal relationships; exposure to regulatory, policy, advocacy and health care industry interests in Washington, D.C.; and connection to the Georgetown community that is available to students in a traditional on-campus program.
A rich competency-based interdisciplinary curriculum provides opportunities for learners to engage with content, faculty, and accomplished peers in the context of current health care challenges through lectures, readings, stimulating discussions, and individual and collaborative projects. Students also participate in experiential learning opportunities focused on quality and performance improvement, comparative health systems, preventive medicine, and other topics of interest.

Please note these additional requirements:
- World Education Services (WES) ICAP evaluation of foreign degrees and coursework – applicants must have earned the U.S. equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Applicants are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if their native language is not English. A minimum score of 100 (iBT test) is required. This requirement will be waived if applicant received a bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or from a university where English is the primary language of instruction. Please note that applicants receiving degrees at universities in U.S. territories, such as Puerto Rico, are required to submit the TOEFL unless the primary language of instruction at the institution is English.
