- 2007-08 Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program: provides support for dissertation field work of 6-12 months. Projects whose focus is Western Europe are ineligible, though work in Western European archives relevant to projects focused on other regions can be supported. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, naturalized citizens, or permanent residents of the U.S. Deadline: internal deadline for submission of application (via the e-Grants system) and supplemental materials: October 26, 2007; deadline for submission to the Department of Education: November 5, 2007. - 2007-08 Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program: supports overseas projects in training, research and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies by teachers, students, and faculty engaged in a common endeavor. Projects may include short-term seminars, curriculum development, group research or study, or advanced language programs. Projects must focus on the humanities, social sciences, and languages and must concentrate on one or more of the following areas: Africa, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific, the Western Hemisphere (excluding the U.S. and Canada), East Central Europe and Eurasia, and the Near East. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, naturalized citizens, or permanent residents of the U.S.; additional information regarding eligibility are available on the program site. - 2007-08 Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program: subject to the availability of funds, the fellow is provided with support annually for up to the lesser of 48 months or the completion of the degree. The fellowship consists of an institutional payment (accepted by the institution of higher education in lieu of all tuition and fees for the fellow) and a stipend (based on the fellow's financial need as determined by Federal Student Assistance Processing System). In Fiscal Year 2007, the institutional payment was $12,627and the maximum stipend was $30,000. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who have not yet completed their first year of graduate study.
