The National Academies is currently accepting applications for the Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships.  The Program is designed to increase the diversity of the nation's college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.   Approximately 60 pre-doctoral, 35 dissertation, and 20 post-doctoral fellowships sponsored by the Ford Foundation and administered by the National Research Council of the National Academies are available for award in 2007.  The fellowship includes the following:

• Pre-doctoral level:  stipend of $20,000 for pre-doctoral fellows and an institutional allowance of $3,000 over a period of three years; 
  
• ABD or dissertation-writing level:  stipend of $21,000 for one year;
  
• Post-doctoral level:  $40,000 for one year and $1,500 employing institution allowance (match required)

All awardees have expenses paid to attend one Conference of Ford Fellows.   Must be a U.S. citizen/national to be eligible, as well as planning a career in teaching and research at the college or university level.   For more information and application guidelines, please refer to their Fellowship Office web page.  Deadline:  application due by TBA for the pre-doctoral level;  TBA for the dissertation level and post-doctoral level awards.
