The PBK offers the following awards and scholarships:
- 2008 Walter J. Jensen Fellowship for French Language, Literature, and Culture: The purpose of the award is to help educators and researchers improve education in standard French language, literature, and culture and in the study of standard French in the United States. The Fellowship is awarded annually for at least six months of study in France and has a stipend of $10,000. Candidates must be U.S. citizens under the age of 40 who can demonstrate their career does or will involve active use of the French language. They must have earned a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year institution, and a 3.0 minimum GPA in French language and literature as a major. They must demonstrate superior competence in French, according to the standards established by the American Association of Teachers of French. Deadline: October 1, 2007
- 2008 Sibley Fellowship for Greek Studies: The annual Mary Isabel Sibley Fellowship is awarded alternately in the fields of Greek and French. The award may be used for the study of Greek language, literature, history, or archaeology, or the study of French language or literature, and includes a stipend of $20,000. Candidates must be unmarried women between the ages of 25 and 35 (inclusive) who have demonstrated their ability to carry on original research. They must hold a doctorate or have fulfilled all the requirements for a doctorate except the dissertation, and they must be planning to devote full-time work to research during the Fellowship year. The award is not restricted to members of Phi Beta Kappa or to U.S. citizens. Deadline: January 15, 2008
- Book Awards: Sponsored by the Phi Beta Kappa Society and awarded annually in December to outstanding scholarly books that have been published in the United States in the fields of the humanities, the social sciences, the natural sciences and mathematics. There are three awards each carrying a prize of $2,500 which goes to the author. Entries must be submitted by the publisher. Entries must be preceded by a letter certifying that the book(s) conforms to all the conditions of eligibility and stating the publication date of each entry. Deadline: nominations due by March 31, annually
