Howard Foundation Fellowships
The Foundation will award a limited number of fellowships for the 2009-10 fellowship year to support persons engaged in independent projects on History and Philosophy. Stipends for one year are normally $25,000; support is intended to supplement a paid sabbatical leave, and accepted candidates should be eligible for at least one semester of sabbatical or other form of leave with guaranteed support. The intention of the Foundation is primarily to support people in the middle stages of their careers (normally, assistant or associate professor or their non-academic equivalents).
The project should be an original and important contribution to the candidate's field and should manifest the candidate's growth and creativity. The project description should be comprehensible to persons outside the immediate field of specialization, and free of jargon. Candidates must be professionally based in the either by affiliation with an institution or residence regardless of their nationality/country of citizenship.
Deadline: application materials due by November 10, 2008
