U.S. Department of Education

The DoEd is currently accepting applications for the following competitions:

  • 2007-08 Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad Program: provides grants for faculty to maintain and improve their area studies and language skills by conducting research abroad for a period of 3-12 months.  Proposals whose focus is Western Europe are ineligible.   Applicants must be U.S. citizens, naturalized citizens, or permanent residents of the U.S.; additional information regarding eligibility are available on the program site.   Deadline:  internal deadline  for submission of application (via the e-Grants system) and supplemental materials:  October 19, 2007; deadline for submission to the Department of Education:  October 30, 2007.  Refer to the Graduate School's "Fulbright-Hays FRA Internal Guidelines" for complete information on how to prepare your application.

  • 2007-08 Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program:  supports overseas projects in training, research and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies by teachers, students, and faculty engaged in a common endeavor.  Projects may include short-term seminars, curriculum development, group research or study, or advanced language programs.  Projects must focus on the humanities, social sciences, and languages and must concentrate on one or more of the following areas:  Africa, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific, the Western Hemisphere (excluding the U.S. and Canada), East Central Europe and Eurasia, and the Near East.  Applicants must be U.S. citizens, naturalized citizens, or permanent residents of the U.S.; additional information regarding eligibility are available on the program siteDeadline:  internal deadline  for submission of application (via the e-Grants system) and supplemental materials:  September 26, 2007; deadline for submission to the Department of Education:  October 4, 2007.  Please contact Maria Snyder for additional information.
