American Political Science Association

The APSA is currently accepting applications for the following competitions:

  • Congressional Fellowship Program for Political Scientists:  provides early- to mid-career political scientists an opportunity to learn more about the legislative process through direct participation.  Fellowship includes a stipend of $38,000 (plus a small travel allowance) that is disbursed over a period of nine months.  Fellows are selected in a nationwide competition and must undergo a paper review before being invited to appear before an outside selection panel.  Interviews take place at the APSA offices in Washington, DC.  APSA reimburses travel to and from interviews and arranges for hotel accommodations, however, applicants not currently living in the U.S. must be able to fund their own transportation for an interview.   Specifics on terms and conditions, fellowship year and other details can be found on the program's web siteDeadlines:  application must be postmarked by December 1, 2007

  • Robert Wood Foundation Health Policy Executives:  The purpose of this fellowship is to give outstanding mid-career health professionals in academic and community-based settings an opportunity to learn more about the legislative process through direct participation.  Fellows actively contribute to the formulation of national health policies and accelerate their careers as leaders in health policy. Initiated in 1973, the program is funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)and conducted by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academy of Sciences.   Additional information may be found on the RWJ Health Policy Fellows web siteDeadline:  application due mid-November, 2007


  • APSA/MCI Communications Fellowships for Scholars and Journalists:   provides early- to mid-career political scientists an opportunity to learn more about the legislative process through direct participation.  Fellowship is directed at individuals focusing on politics, communications, and public policy and includes a stipend of $38,000 (plus a small travel allowance) that is disbursed over a period of nine months.  Fellows are selected in a nationwide competition and must undergo a paper review before being invited to appear before an outside selection panel.  Interviews take place at the APSA offices in Washington, DC.  APSA reimburses travel to and from interviews and arranges for hotel accommodations, however, applicants not currently living in the U.S. must be able to fund their own transportation for an interview.   Specifics on terms and conditions, fellowship year and other details can be found on the program's web siteDeadlines:  application must be postmarked by December 1, 2007
