Georgetown University
Founded in 1789, Georgetown University is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in the United States. It is a major international research university that embodies its founding principles in the diversity of its students, faculty, and staff; its commitment to justice and the common good; its intellectual openness; and its international character. Located in Washington, D.C., Georgetown provides access to the many resources that the nation’s capital has to offer, including its political institutions, high-tech corridor, cultural riches, museums and performance centers.
El Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT)
CONACYT was established by the Mexican government in 1970 to support national scientific and technological development. It is the country’s foremost agency for support of graduate education and research, both within Mexico and abroad. Among its many activities, CONACYT runs a scholarship program to support Mexican students interested in pursuing doctoral studies. CONACYT has signed cooperation agreements with a select number of internationally recognized institutions of higher education. In 2003, CONACYT and Georgetown University signed such an agreement, which was recently extended through 2011.
